Descriptions to copy
Faderhand is an automatic vocal gain rider for Mac and Windows that evens out a vocal phrase by phrase, before the compressor.
Faderhand rides the level of a vocal the way an engineer rides the fader: slow, musical moves toward a target, with 100 ms of lookahead so the gain arrives before the phrase does. Learn Target sets the level from the vocal itself. VST3, AU and AAX for Mac, VST3 for Windows, and a standalone app on both, 9 EUR.
Faderhand is an automatic vocal gain rider for macOS and Windows by Baracca Records. Instead of squashing loud lines to lift quiet ones, it moves the level slowly, phrase by phrase, toward a target, so the compressor after it only catches what is left. Learn Target listens to six seconds of singing and sets the target to the level the vocal already has, making the take more even rather than louder. A 100 ms lookahead lets the gain move before a phrase arrives. Every move is written to a Ride parameter the DAW can record as automation and play back. A peak ceiling and a 2 ms lookahead limiter stop the rider from pushing peaks into clipping. VST3, Audio Unit and AAX on Mac, VST3 on Windows, and a standalone app with file export on both; 9 EUR, perpetual licence.

Press release
Baracca Records releases Faderhand, an automatic vocal gain rider for Mac, at 9 EUR
Prague, 16 September 2026. Baracca Records has released Faderhand 1.0, a plugin that rides the level of a vocal phrase by phrase before it reaches the compressor. Faderhand runs on macOS as VST3, Audio Unit, AAX for Pro Tools (since version 1.1) and a standalone app, and on Windows as VST3 and a standalone app (since 22 September 2026). It costs 9 EUR with a perpetual licence for up to three computers.
Evening out a vocal is slow work. Riding the fader takes a pass through every song, drawing automation syllable by syllable takes longer, and handing the job to a compressor flattens the loud lines to lift the quiet ones. Faderhand does the riding instead: slow, musical moves toward a target level, with 100 ms of lookahead so the gain is already moving when a louder or quieter phrase arrives.
Learn Target takes the guesswork out of the setup. Play the vocal, and after six seconds of singing Faderhand sets the target to the level the vocal already has, so the take becomes more even rather than simply louder. Peak safety is built in: the rider never boosts a phrase past a ceiling, and a 2 ms lookahead limiter holds that ceiling.
“I wanted the vocal as even as it gets when I ride the fader myself, without the late jumps you hear when an automatic rider reacts after the phrase has started. So Faderhand looks ahead and gets there first.”
Key features
- Learn Target: sets the target from six seconds of the vocal itself, so the take gets more even, not louder
- Rides up to 6 dB each way by default (up to 12 dB), pulling loud lines down twice as fast as it lifts quiet ones
- 100 ms lookahead by default, constant latency reported to the host (102 ms including the limiter)
- Ride and Read modes: every move goes to one Ride parameter to record as automation, edit by hand and play back
- Optional stereo sidechain for the music bus, so the target follows the arrangement
- Peak safety: boosts never push peaks past the ceiling (−1 dBFS by default), and a 2 ms lookahead limiter holds it
- Two optional colour stages after the rider: Bloom (a clean second harmonic) and Grid (a presence lift at 2 and 3 kHz)
- 12 factory presets, including Pop Lead, Ballad, Rap & Spoken, Podcast & Voice-over and Live Vocal (8 ms lookahead for monitoring)
- Simple and Advanced views, hover help on every control, manual in English, Czech and Spanish
- Standalone app: open a recording, set Faderhand up by ear, export a file in the original's format, sample-aligned
